1987

Set up liaison office in New Delhi.

 

1996

Cargill India set up as a 100% owned trading company.

 

1997

Began primary sugar supply business. Country office was set up in New Delhi.

 

1998

Exited seed business as part of a global divestiture to Monsanto.
First desk of grain & oilsseeds business began operations.

 

2000

Packaged foods business under NatureFresh brand launched with wheat products.

 

2003

"NatureFresh" brand transitioned into refinery unit for sale in packed form.

 

2004

Entered into joint venture with Parakh Foods Ltd. As a result, “Gemini” brand of refined oil and two oil refineries in west coast of India were added to our portfolio. Commercial production of oil refineries at Paradip in east coast of India and at Kandla in west coast began.

 

2005

Acquired 100% stake in joint venture with Parakh Foods Ltd.; a new business unit called 'Refined Oils India’ was formed.

 

2006

Established the animal nutrition business. Refined Oils India entered into institutional oil selling to large food industry.

 

2008

Launched Kutch Livelihood & Education Advancement Program in Kutch district, Gujarat in partnership with CARE.
Launched Oliante brand of olive oil.

 

2010

Refined Oils India became Cargill Foods India. Acquired `Rath’ brand of Vanaspati (hydrogenated fats).

 

2011

Acquired `Sweekar’ brand of sunflower refined oil.

 

2012

Global acquisition of AWB expanded the business for the grain & oilseeds business in India.
Global acquisition of Provimi expanded animal nutrition footprint in India.
Flavors business ceased to be part of India business due to global divesture.
Re-launched NatureFresh Atta, whole wheat flour.
Acquired Sunflower Vanaspati.

 

2014

Acquired Leonardo brand of olive oils.

 

2015

Opened its biggest business services center in Bengaluru.

 

2016

Set up state -of- the- art corn wet milling plant in Davangere, Karnataka. Inaugurated dairy feed mill in Bathinda, Punjab. Broke ground for setting up corn silos in Davangere, Karnataka.

 

2018

Opened first fish feed mill in Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh.

 

2019

Inaugurated corn silos in Davangere, Karnataka.

 

2020

Set up first chocolate manufacturing unit in Surendranagar, Gujarat.
Opened a bioindustrial plant in Kurkumbh, Maharashtra.

 

2021

Acquired an edible oil refinery in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.

 

2022

Opened first Food Innovation Center in India to address growing consumer demand for healthy, nutritious food solutions.

 

2023

Forayed into south India with its edible oil portfolio. Launched Gemini Pureit™, India’s leading sunflower oil brand in the region.
