Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) have always been important to Cargill. We know the work is never done, and our commitment continues to get stronger as we aspire to do more and reach higher ground.
We recognize that true impact includes not only representation but also access and equity to drive a meaningful impact for all. We aim to foster a culture of inclusion where every individual feels welcomed, valued and heard.
In our DEI journey, we are focusing on attracting, engaging and enabling our employees from diverse backgrounds. We are prioritizing an intersectional approach that will help in bringing fresh perspectives and initiatives towards building an equitable and inclusive workplace for differently abled, neurodivergent, LGBTQI+ and inter-generational people. In line with this objective, for Cargill’s shared services business in India, our DEI Council has been divided into 3 workstreams, each focusing on different aspects of diversity:
- Gender
- LGBTQI+
- Persons with Disabilities and Neurodivergent
We formed a core group of passionate individuals who contributed towards leading visibly successful programs, right from strategy to execution. For example, we offer advancement opportunities to women in India, including:
- Stand Tall – A women empowerment program that focusses on the talent pipeline at mid- level leaders who can be enabled to take up the leadership roles. Stand Tall is an 18-week journey designed to be a reflective and peer learning space, where the participating women leaders take time out to introspect about their strengths and challenges which includes structured reflection, personal sharing, storytelling, roleplaying, small group presentations and group exercises, making the program fully experiential and immersive. This program has representation across India and in various functions like Manufacturing, Supply-chain, Commercial, Operations and R&D.
- MoMo (Motivating Mothers) – This program was launched to enable a supportive environment for returning mothers through a structured mentoring program. This program helps them seamlessly integrate with pre & post maternity work life, address challenges through candid conversations, choosing career paths based on their skills, interests and available support network. The key pillars of this program are sensitization workshops for managers, Employee Assistance Program for new mothers and mentoring by senior leaders who have gone through similar experiences.
